With the WNBA announcing the rules for the Expansion Draft, our crew went through every roster to give knee jerk reactions to how the draft might play out.
My understanding of the UFA Core rule is that it only applies to players that are UFA in the upcoming season so for example the Storm would still have to protect Jewell and SDS. The Valkyrie would assume their contracts as is and since they are not UFA, it would not invoke the core limit of those players.
For the Aces, they are grooming Martin to replace Clark (especially if they manage to win a chip this year). If they get rid of anyone, I can see Bell being shipped out.
For Atlanta, allegedly CPT has been on the outs with Wright, so I don't see her being protected (which is a shame because she is wicked in the paint). Maybe a change of scenery will do her some good.
For Chicago, I am wondering if Carter and/or Reese will force a trade, now that Weatherspoon is gone (especially if Weatherspoon is tapped for another team). And DeShields would be a better choice to be shipped out instead of Harrison (although keeping Harrison would make Chicago heavy on bigs).
For LA, I could see keeping Cooke over Brown due to Brown's health issues.
