Hoops fans have not only made it to the start of the women’s college season, but the first tournament, as the Ally Tipoff showcases two intriguing matches in Charlotte on Sunday. 

First, there’s a rematch of this past season’s Final Four matchup between the defending champion South Carolina Gamecocks and the NC State Wolfpack. 

That game tips off at 3 p.m. EST and No Cap Space will have you covered with boots on the ground. But before then, let’s take a look at what these two teams bring to the showdown. 

South Carolina comes in with a spotless record in almost 40 games, which means higher expectations. NCS sat down with star guard Milaysia Fulwiley on how she’s expanded her game and more. 

Check out how a championship team trains as USC’s sports performance coach Molly Binetti shares how she gets the Gamecocks in peak condition. 

NC State made an incredible run in last year’s March Madness tournament and want to build on that momentum. Guard Zoe Brooks gave NCS the scoop on how  the Wolfpack plan on doing that. 

Saniya Rivers is going to be a part of that push for a title and she got candid about her basketball journey. 

At 5 p.m. EST, Virginia Tech will take on Iowa. This game will feature two teams showcasing their new identities. 

The Hokies are in the post-Liz Kitley era, with Megan Duffy taking over as head coach after Kenny Brooks left for Kentucky. Duffy spoke with NCS on what to expect from this year’s team. 

They’ll take on an Iowa team that may have lost its superstar to the WNBA draft, but by no means is the cupboard bare. Jan Jenson will lead the way following the retirement of head coach Lisa Bluder, and she dished with NCS about why Hawkeye faithful should remain enthused. 

One of those reasons is the development of forward Hannah Steulke, who came on with the crew to share what she’s been working on.
